ULB polls: Real estate lobby may decide fate of candidates
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Political parties will have a tough time in wooing voters, who are disillusioned with the failure of the urban civic bodies to improve the infrastructure in their towns and cities.

Three City Municipalities and seven Town Municipalities in Bangalore Urban and Rural, Ramanagara districts have poor infrastructure compared to Bangalore.

It will be a Herculean task for the political parties to win over voters in the September 28 elections. They are heavily dependent on money bags for fetching them votes.

Land value up
Like in Bangalore, the land value has shot up in Anekal, Hoskote, Devanahalli, Vijayapura, Doddaballapura, Nelamangala, Ramanagara, Magadi, Channapatna  and Kanakapura.  Because of this,  “real-estate lobby” is likely to play a crucial role in deciding the outcome.

Drinking water shortage is the major problem in all these towns. Barring main roads, others are in a bad shape as they have not been asphalted since a long time. Some roads have not seen bitumen layer at all. One can see filth overflowing in old residential areas, most of the extensions do not have drainage lines.

It is very evident  that most of the funds allocated are either misused or not used. As a result civic amenities have remained a dream for most residents. Mr Prakash of Kanakapura said, sewerage lines have not been completed even three years after the commencement of work.
