Parents of some children studying in two primary schools, which were derecognised and are now compelled to teach in Kannada medium, have moved the High Court seeking a direction to State government to facilitate running of private English medium schools in the State.
The petition, filed by Bharath Raj Jain and 8 other residents, have says their fundamental right to educate their children in the medium of their choice is being curtailed by the government.
The derecognition of schools teaching in English medium, not permitting new English medium schools of State syllabus on the one hand, while issuing NoC for ICSE and CBSE syllabus schools to teach in English medium, is creating a shortage of affordable English-medium schools, the petition says. It was adjourned by a month awaiting judgment of the Full Court on the issue of Government’s 1994 language policy.
