Bangalore, dhns:  The motorcycle rider who ran over collage artist V Balu has been traced.
He has been identified as Raghavendra (25), a florist. He was traced with the help of a cellphone’s global positioning system.

Raghavendra, who was riding his scooter, had hit Balu while he was on a evening walk near M N Krishna Rao Park. Passersby jotted down his vehicle number and gave it to the police. Police caught Raghavendra, but he told them he wasn’t near Basavanagudi when the incident occurred.

Police, who let him go, found through the global positioning system that he was indeed in Basavanagudi when the incident occurred. Armed with this proof, police arrested him. During questioning, Raghavendra admitted he knocked down Balu, but lied fearing a jail term.
