Executive education programme from HBS
Monica Jha

Harvard Business School (HBS) in conjunction with the Harvard Business School India Research Center (IRC) has announced plans to offer its first executive education programme in India from February 2008. The first-of-its-kind course, specially designed for senior executives from India and around the region, will be conducted by HBS senior faculty in Hyderabad.

The new programme is based on 10 years of extensive, on-the-ground HBS research in India and uses cases tailored to the specific needs of companies operating in India and incorporates examples from companies in the region that have addressed similar challenges that Indian companies are facing now.

“This programme was designed to address emerging challenges in the Indian business landscape as companies seek to manage and sustain growth in India,” said Professor David Yoffie, Senior Associate Dean and Chair of Harvard Business School Executive Education programmes.

Participants will focus on the major challenges of building a global enterprise in India, such as developing leadership talent, employing innovation-based growth models, and identifying strategic advantages to drive growth. “This programme meets our objective of enhancing business practices in India and fulfilling Harvard Business School’s mission of educating leaders, who make a difference in the world,” said Mr Yoffie.

The programme will provide participants with the opportunity to meet and discuss business issues with a diverse and dynamic group of C-suite peers from India and around the world and make decisions about real business situations.

“While the programme demonstrates Harvard Business School’s commitment to India, it also allows us to learn from the Indian companies to enhance our global curriculum,” said Professor Krishna Palepu, Senior Associate Dean for International Development.

Building a Global Enterprise in India will run from February 10 to 15, 2008, and will take place at the Hyderabad International Convention Center. Applications are due by January 14, 2008. For details visit www.exed.hus.edu/programs/bgei
