CII’s Education Summit
Confederation of Indian Industry - Institute of Quality is organising a National Summit on Quality in Education at Bangalore on September 28-29, 2007. The theme for the summit is "Building Quality India: Role of Educational Institutions".

The discussions at the summit are centred on improving the quality of education (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary) in the country. Speakers from various agencies: Government - Central & State, Non - governmental organisations, educational institutions, corporate, etc are being brought together on a platform so as to ensure active participation of decision makers from various levels.

Quality Council of India will conduct a tutorial on "Education Quality Management Systems" at the summit. The EQMS is the first of its kind in the country.

Holiday programme for children
Kids in our society are stressed to perform and achieve without knowing what potential they have inside them. Geniekids offers children, this Dushera holidays a unique set of camps to experiment, explore, expand on the child's strengths. The child is exposed to open and exciting activities based on all the eight multiple intelligences: visual, musical, logical, social, verbal, intrapersonal, naturalist and bodily-kinesthetic intelligences.

SMU programmes get recognition
The distance education council of India has granted recognition and endorsement to all distance education programmes offered under the aegis of SMU (Sikkim Manipal University). This recognition covers all the SMU distance education programmes including Graduate, Post Graduate, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate programmes.

AU-CATS to cater to working professionals
The Andhra University - Distance Education Centre in association with College of Advanced Technology Studies, Bangalore would cater to the needs of Fast Track Executives and Working professionals. The centre will use maximum benefit of technology to impart education which would be at par with the regular sessions. The programme will be on web based / contact programmes.

The students would be selected based on the entrance test conducted by the University. The fees will be competitive and affordable inspite of using high-tech technology.

The following programmes are proposed to be conducted for 2007:

MBA  - Two Years Duration ( 4 semesters)
MCA – Three Years Duration ( 6 Semesters)
BBM – Three Years Duration ( 6 Semesters)
BCA  -  Three Years Duration ( 6 Semesters)

The Faculty: College of Advanced Technology Studies holds a record for placing all its students in career oriented jobs. CATS has been providing its faculty support to various Universities in India and overseas. CATS also conducts management development programmes for Government Departments in Karnataka and under takes UGC approved academic enhancement programmes for a few colleges in Bangalore. 

Essay competition for PU students
Padmashree Centre for Psychological Counselling and Research (PCPCR) Bangalore, is conducting an essay competition for students. October 10 is commemorated as ‘World Mental Health Day’ all over the world. The objective is to promote mental health advocacy and educate the public on relevant issues. The theme of year 2007 is ‘Mental health in a changing world: The impact of culture and diversity’. The essay competition is exclusively for pre university level students. The final round competition, prize distribution, and study skills training will be held along with the World Mental Health Day observance on October 10, 2007.
