As if the coalition partner JD (S) and its leader H D Deve Gowda are not enough, now pitru paksha appears to be a hurdle for Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, if the power is transferred to BJP as per the understanding on October 3.
According to Hindu almanac, the 15-day pitru paksha began on Wednesday. Pitru paksha is a dark fortnight which falls in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapad.
It is believed that good work is not taken up during the period. According to sources Mr Yediyurappa is worried over taking oath during this period.
He also conducted Chandika homa on September 22 both at Shankar Mutt in Chamarajpet, Bangalore, and at Kollur temple.
According to sources in Shankar Mutt, the yaga was aimed at minimising the ill-effects of pitru paksha and to ensure smooth power transfer.
“However, if he (Mr Yediyurappa) takes oath in pirtu paksha, the Government is not going to last long,” sources added.
