A 20-year-old girl committed suicide after being allegedly stalked and harassed by a man, police said today.
One Chandrakant Borkar (30) had allegedly been harassing the girl by passing comments on her and stalking her for the last two years, police said.
He also used to make phone calls to her, police said adding the girl had informed her father sometime ago about the alleged harassment.
Disturbed by harassment by the man, the girl hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Bhagirathwadi area of the city last night, police said.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, police have registered a case against the accused under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
A search has been launched for Borkar who is at large, they added.
