Two persons have been arrested in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony area for possessing 14 kilos of pseudoephedrine, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch said on Monday.

The value of the drug, used in many medicines, in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 70 lakh.

Accused Ramvir, 39, and his brother-in-law Amit Kumar, 35, had started a medical firm ‘IS Pharma’ in Ghaziabad in 2006.

It was during that time that they began indulging in this drug business, police said in a release.

The Crime Branch had learnt on Saturday that the two would be arriving near a bus stand under Geeta Colony flyover between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm. A trap was accordingly laid.

Very soon, a Mahindra XUV car pulled over and the driver got off with a bag which he handed over to a waiting person. Police caught both of them after the exchange.
A search of the bag revealed the presence of the drugs, said police.
