The 25-year-old made a speech during the rally and performed two songs on her piano, including 'Born This Way' which Gaga says is a self-styled 'gay anthem', reported Contactmusic.
In her speech, she described homosexuals as 'revolutionaries of love' and pointed out that discrimination against gay people results in thousands of young people across the world being vulnerable to "suicide, self-loathing, isolation".
Gaga praised the 'great courage' of her audience, who had paraded through the streets of Rome in brightly coloured floats and costumes in order to support gay rights and highlight injustices against the gay community.
She also hoped to send a message both to the Vatican, who boldly oppose same sex marriage and adoption, and also to outspoken Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, who recently claimed that it is "better to be passionate about a beautiful girl than a gay."
Gaga's recent album 'Born This Way' recently sold more than 1 million copies in a single week, and she continues to use her profile to try and change legislation, going as far as formally inviting the US Ambassador to the EuroPride rally.
