The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against unknown people in the horrific incident of IPS officer Narendra Kumar being crushed to death allegedly by a mining mafia in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.

The country’s premiere investigation agency registered the case, after the Centre issued a notification for the probe, on the request of Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Chouhan had recommended CBI probe into the alleged murder of Kumar at the instance of his wife Madhurani Tewatia, an IAS officer.

Tewatia and other family members of Kumar had shown dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation into the killing of 30-year-old officer.

The CBI, which has taken up the investigation of FIR No 49/2012 dated 8 March 2012 registered earlier at P S Banmore, District Morena (MP) has also sent a team to the place of occurrence.

Last Thursday, Kumar was mowed down under a tractor-trolley by an alleged member of the mining mafia, when he tried to stop the vehicle carrying illegally quarried stones in Morena.
