CRPF women contingent leaves for Liberia

A contingent of 124 women officers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Thursday left on a year-long peacekeeping mission in Liberia.The team is headed by Commander Karuna Rai. It will be part of the UN Peace Keeping Force.

They were sent off by CRPF Director Genaral K. Vijay Kumar at a ceremony at the CRPF Academy here.

The unit will help the local police to maintain law and order and guard the premises of the president of Liberia and other VVIPs.

The contingent has been put through seven weeks of specialized training.
