Hello and welcome to DH Radio.
When you are about to book a railway ticket and note that it is on the Waiting List, your first thought is: Oh No! Let me book it anyway and wait for confirmation in a day or two.
But if that doesn't happen and the Wait Listed ticket graduates to RAC, Reservation Against Cancellation, you board the train and wait for the TTE (Train Ticket Examiner). But if he does not turn up - yes, it happens - you end up sharing the berth with another RAC ticket holder for the entire length of the journey.
Is there a more smart way to address this? Or are you destined to be at the TTE's mercy? In this episode, DH Radio's Rasheed Kappan speaks to frequent train travellers and mobility experts.
