Stemade Biotech has recently launched six clinics across the City to collect extracted milk tooth and wisdom tooth and store the stem cell from them for use by the donor for any degenerative diseases.

The company has tied up with select dentists and set up clinics where surgeons are trained to collect teeth, extract stem cells and keep them in cold storage kits. “Milk tooth and wisdom tooth are a rich source of stem cells. We collect the tooth or teeth from only those people who have been advised by dentists for procedure,” said Shailesh Gadre, Managing Director, Stemade Biotech.

The firm has already set up 21 similar dental banks in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune and is planning to create such banks in at least 14 cities by the year-end.

Stem cells obtained from teeth are used for bone regeneration, cartilage regeneration, liver regeneration and cardiac problems. The company also has tie-ups with banks that can extend loans to people who wish to bank stem cells.
