Based on the Plan Bengaluru 2020 policy brought out by ABIDe, the meeting was scheduled to address the matters related to water tariff, sewerage lines and using lakes as a “dependable” source of drinking water for the City’s population. According to ABIDe members, the meeting brought out an agreement in-principle from civic agencies and also dwelled into practical issues related to implementing them.

“There were some issues regarding regulation of borewells which had to be resolved and has to be taken up again by the civic agencies among themselves,” informed a member of The Agenda for Bengaluru Infrastructure Development .

The meeting also looked into matters of using lakes as a source of water for Bangalore. “With the Cauvery water having only a restricted capacity to reach the people, we are looking at supply of 15 to 20 percent of drinking water to be derived from the lakes in the City,” said the member.
