A 58-year-old woman died after a speeding car hit the bike she was riding pillion, at Bashyam Circle in Sadashivanagar on Friday morning. Police said that both the rider and pillion rider were not wearing helmet.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanalakshmi, a resident of Vyalikaval. Her husband Sathyanarayana , who was riding the bike, suffered leg fracture in the accident.
According to police, the couple was on its way towards Sankey Tank for a morning walk when the accident occurred around 6.45 am. Vishal Gupta, the driver of the car, has been arrested for rash and negligent driving.
Passersby shifted the couple to a nearby hospital from where they were shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital. Doctors declared Dhanalakshmi dead on arrival.
