Painting helps to combat stress, says artist

"Painting helps combat stress in life," said artist and Manipal Chitrakala School director P N Acharya.

He was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition of artworks of students, at Vibhoothi Art Gallery on Monday. "Art gives a relief to the mind," he said.

"A few doctors of a hospital in Manipal visit the art school and engage themselves in painting for few hours. When asked, they said they paint to combat stress," he said.

Manipal Chitrakala School was started by teaching art to Mamatha, daughter of Raghavendra Rao and Rekha Rao. Later, hundreds of students enrolled. The students who learnt here have emerged successful in life.

Shirdi Saibaba Mandira Dharmadarshi Diwakar Shetty inaugurated the exhibition.

The exhibition will be held for three days between 10 am and 6 pm. As many as 65 works  of 18 students have been exhibited.
