Sensex closes low in choppy trade
In highly volatile trade, the benchmark Sensex ended over 41 points down on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday as funds and investors preferred to book profits and change their portfolios.
Parekh panel to study plan for funding the core sectors
The Centre, on Wednesday, announced the setting up a committee, headed by IDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, to look into long-term funding for infrastructure sectors that require a massive $320 billion of investment by 2012.
HCL Tech bags $200m Skandia five-year deal
HCL Technologies Ltd, which recently acquired some large customers has netted another big deal. On Wednesday, it announced a $200 million, multi-service, five-year contract with Skandia UK, a leading independent provider of long-term savings solutions.
Mittal to buy Mexican co Sicartsa for $1.44 billion
Arcelor Mittal also announced the creation of a joint venture with the parent company of Sicartsa, Grupo Villacero, for distribution and sale of its products in Mexico and the US southwest.
Tech Mahindra signs $1 b contract with BT
Tech Mahindra, on Wednesday, announced the signing of a five year deal to provide BT (British Telecom) with strategic sourcing services.
