All too male!
Sagari Shetty
Metrolife caught up with Arjun Rampal, the model-turned actor who was in the City recently for the release of the music for his forthcoming film I See You.

Arjun Rampal is surely a terrifically good looking guy and a rather decent actor but unfortunately for him, a box office hit is yet to come. Metrolife caught up with this model-turned actor who was in the City recently for the release of the music for his forthcoming film I See You.

The movie has been shot entirely in London. Why this choice of location and what was the experience like?

London is a beautiful place and in this film, we have shot parts of London previously not captured on celluloid. Since London has many Indians residing, it was the ideal place. My character, Raj Jaiswal, is an obnoxious, yet likeable casanova.

So is your love interest in the film really a spirit? Do you believe in the supernatural?

My co-star, Vipasha Agarwal’s character (Shivani in the film) is invisible to all eyes except mine.

I can’t share anything more about her character, you’ll have to watch the film for that. And no, I don’t believe in the supernatural.

How was your experience as a producer for the first time and what was it like working with your wife, Mehr?

The support and encouragement that I got from my family and friends are the only things that have made this experience possible. When you have a woman, who’s as level headed as Mehr by your side, anything is possible.

Do you think it’s important for an actor to keep reinventing himself?

It’s not just important, it’s essential. Especially for me as I get bored easily and can’t get slotted into a stereotype.

How do you balance your professional and personal life?

I balance both worlds by working eight months and then taking a break to spend time with my family for the remaining four.

What made you choose Bangalore to launch the music?

I share a special bond with this City as I started my modelling career here. I love the place and its people. All of this, and the fact that the Habba was on at the same time was what made me want to release the music here before anywhere else in India.

Future plans?

My first plan would be to take a holiday! After that, I’ll be working on three films, including one with Ritu Ghosh.

TAKE FOUR

Arjun was asked to choose any one of the two options given to him and this is what he had to say.

Day or Night?

A: 24 hours

Movie or modelling?

A: Movie

Money or fame?

A: Fame

Macho or metro?

A: A man!

THE PERFECT PARTNER

Donning the role of production manager, Mehr Jessia has worked alongside her husband Arjun Rampal on his first production I See You under the banner Chasing Ganesha Films. Metrolife caught up with the gorgeous Mehr Rampal as well who shared her experience working for this film.

On her experience as a production manager for this film, Mehr says, “We shot for a total of 30 days in London and everyday was a blast. The fact that I didn’t have to worry about false praise or fake people hugely boosted my confidence. I would love to work in this line again if the right project came along.”

Balancing work and a personal life can be a hard task but Mehr claims it isn’t always difficult. “I believe your work is personal and especially so with this team. We did everything together with Arjun even insisting that the entire crew, from the spot boys to the actors, all stay in the same hotel in downtown London and eat the same food.”
