It is the stress at work which is forcing people to destress themselves at the cultural events happening in the City. As a result, a number of local artistes are being encouraged. Noted Yakshagana artistes of national and international repute have been staging their talents in the City very often and mesmerising the audience.
Yakshagana enthusiasts Suresh Hegde and B L Geethapati have organised a (Krishnarjuna Prasanga) performance at Ravindra Kalakshetra on October 4 at 6 pm by artistes of Yaji Mitra Mandali. Though there is no dearth of Yakshagana prasangas, this art is, however, perishing, so Bhagavanta Sarveshwar Hegde of Mururu is showcasing Yakshagana for the first time in Bangalore through his young team. Artistes Krishnayaji, Subramanya Yalaguppa, Kannemane, Sripad Hegde, Shashikanta Shetty, Keshaw Kolege are part of the team.
Art cannot be encouraged by mere words, artistes have to be given a chance to perform and real talents has to be tapped and motivated. This year, Suresh Hegde and B L Geethapati are felicitating young Yakshagana artistes Subramanya Hol and multi-talented artiste Radhakrishna Ullal. The event will be inaugurated by M J Gajendra of Karnataka Silk House. Dr C N Ashwathnaryan, K Mohan, secretary of Yakshadogulu Samste, K Mohan Holla, chairman of Yakashagana Welfare Scheme will be the chief guests.
