A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys!
Eragon is all about mystery, adventure, magic and dragons in a land far, far away, writes Sowmya H S

Christopher Paolini was only 15 when he started writing Eragon. He has created a land called Alasgaesia, in which the story is set. The book is filled with magic, adventure, weird animals, monsters.

Eragon, a fifteen year old boy, discovers a mysterious stone in The Spine. This changes his life. From the time he can remember he has lived with his uncle and cousin and has never seen his mother and is not aware who his father is. He has often wondered why his mother left him, which makes him question his own existence.

The discovery of the stone turns his life upside down. The stone turns out to be a dragon’s egg. And to his surprise, it hatches in his house. The book begins with a fantasy which every child shares, having a mysterious animal as a friend; the joy of finding a new way of communication; sneaking out of home to meet a secret friend.

But soon, the story turns towards a serious mode. Before Eragon realizes, he and his family are in danger because of his secret friend. However, it is too late for any of his efforts. Eragon’s house is destroyed and his uncle is killed. Then starts the journey of adventure.

It begins as an act of vengeance, but later it makes Eragon realize his destiny. An old story teller of Carvahall becomes a mentor for Eragon, from whom Eragone learns the history of dragons, their riders and the magic powers of these riders. With this knowledge, Eragon names his dragon Saphira. The story turns in to the metamorphosis of Eragon from young boy to a masculine dragon rider who uses magical powers and kills Urgals.

The king Galbatorix who was once a dragon rider is now looking for Eragon and Saphira. Galbatorix has Ra’zacs and Urgals working for him. This makes Saphira and her master’s journey more fascinating and magical.

The book will keep young readers busy in turning pages and their eyes brighter.

The whole story is filled with the legacy of dragons and dragon riders. The book is a must-have both for the young and old.
