Drastic cut in Mysore’s II plan
BANGALORE, Oct 7


The Planning Commission has fixed the outlay of Mysore’s Second Five-Year Plan at Rs 84.73 crores, thus making a drastic cut by one-third in the State’s original draft plan of Rs 251.72 crores, it was learned here today.

The State’s Advisory Board for Planning and Development, which met here today under the presidentship of Chief Minister, K Hanumanthaiya, was stated to have revised the various development schemes to fit into the new plan target.

Russia looks forward to Geneva talks
MOSCOW, Oct 6


M Vyacheslav Molatov, Soviet Foreign Minister, said today he was optimistic about the results of the Geneva Conference of Foreign Ministers, although difficulties remained to be overcome.

He was talking to Mr Lester Pearson, the Canadian External Affairs Minister. Mr Pearson told reporters that M Molatov was optimistic that something could be done to keep going the momentum of improvement.

Generosity seeps thro’ barricades

SHIMOGA, Oct. 7.

The four-day-old farmers’ agitation in Shimoga District, which has now enveloped the whole district, is characterised by patience, tolerance and generosity on the part of the farmers who are blockading the roads in their thousands. Reports have come in of the agitating farmers (who are maintaining their vigil over the roads for hours at a stretch offering food, milk etc. to the passengers of buses and other vehicles stranded on the roads.
