It is the fault of humans!
Humans were omnivorous since the dot of humanity. But then, the population was not even a quarter of today. If animals are in their natural habitats, they never reproduce so much at any time.
Recently, a famous fast food chain was in news for producing poultry with no limbs but just a breathing lump of flesh! It is also a hopscotch theory that cows are responsible for the destruction of the ozone layer! Methane produced by animals don’t harm the ozone layer .Giant dinosaurs lived for millions of years producing tons of waste each day. Earth still exists but they are gone!. So, it is the fault of humans.
Only few varieties of cows are remaining now. If the trend continues, there will not be enough dairy products to meet the requirement of a billion plus population. In the land that is used to feed a ‘manufactured’ animal, hundreds of people can be fed at every turn of season. But when you slaughter a cow after feeding her from the same vast land, you can’t feed her to hundreds! India with a population of billion plus is able to feed them only because more than half of the population is vegetarian.
Millions around are turning vegetarians for its benefits. One of places of the Blue Zone where people live the longest is in USA & it is vegetarian. Okinawa or Costa Rica are famous for their 80% of vegetarian diet. They consume very less meat.
Vegetarians too must share the blame. They don’t consume meat directly but contribute to the bloodshed indirectly & willingly! They wear Indian silk sarees that kill millions of silk worms to make 5 yards, saints sit on the skin of the wild animals that are hunted, people hunt for leather goods that are of the slaughtered young calves. So, even vegetarians have soaked hands with blood.
It is not any animal’s fault that humans are destroying the world & the resources around. Animals don’t build mansions or property to pass on to their next generations. They eat only when they are hungry. The problem with the humans - they eat when they are hungry & yet remain hungry to gobble all the resources. It is humans alone who are responsible for global warming.
Let us also be very practical in our approach. Those who are in the deserts or in the very icy regions can’t do without meat. Spinach can’t be grown on ice! Desert doesn’t yield much of vegetation either. So, all humans can’t live without meat.
No body is asking everyone to quit the meat altogether. But to reduce it makes lots of sense. To feed our faulty population, we need not attack all the animals. They are resources of nature too. They play an important role in the cycle of nature. Using animal products is fine as long as the action doesn’t harm them. We humans are the cruellest & most foolish species of all really. Yet, none speak of controlling our population! We will be soon going back to dot one too.

Yes this is right Nauture can satisfy the basic needs of human being once he is born on this planet like food shelter and clothing. Gut the nature cannot satisfy for the human greed. TOday we find the human being very greedy. In all sections of people category, right from so called gentle mans to ignorants. Latest examples we hear that scientists passing secreats to other countries for the sake of money and like wise many other examples say how human is greedy.
But this is not the final. All people should start individually to be lovable to nature and society. Do good, and be what you are as no body in this world are totally complete.

It’s true that Indians know to recycle better than the westerners. With a huge population, it’s indeed feeding the people only because most are vegetarians. Indians taught to the world about the goodness of vegetarianism. And, there is no use losing your values & cultural identities in bargain with the western society. Human greed definetly has played the role in the destruction of our planet & few people like this who try to voice their opinion openly. Animals have never given into greed. Basic needs are to be met, excess is just clearly greed. And, the westerners have caused this to a greater extent in the name of development.

While it is true that human beings are a failure as a species the connection to vegetarianism is a bit “iffy” at best. The human beings “inherited” a planet and have driven it to near destruction in less than 500 years! That is less than a cosmic blink of time. Humans are greedy no doubt, there are the non-greedy types too. This article is over-generalization and nothing more.

Human species is the biggest “Virus” on this earth.
They have distroyed millons of other species on this, just for the “fun” of it!

Vegetarian food contains everything that a human body needs in terms of nutrition and vitamins. In fact, non-vegetarian food items contain lot of items like cholesterol and other items that are not good for human beings. Moreover, eating non-vegetarian food items is like eating dead animals and dead birds. Ultimately, people who eat non-vegetarian food items are creating a burial ground in their stomach for dead animals and birds.

Mr. Suryanarayanan, eating non-vegetarian food is not “like eating dead animals and birds” it is indeed eating dead animals and birds. Oh, and make no mistake about it, we (non-vegetarians) know that and relish the dead-bodies too! And our stomachs are not burial grounds, we crap them out too! Do not comment about others likes and dislikes, stick to facts and not vedantha and philosophy. You kill and eat plants, plants which convert the CO2 to O2 …. should we comment that you are destroying the environment and encouraging a bigger carbon footprint? You should refrain from making comments in public ….

@Guest,
We vegetarians are NOT KILLING any plants! We are just using the by-products of plants like leaves, fruits and vegetables. Learn to differenciate between using by-products and killing the entire plant!
Also, after we use the by-products of plants, they grow again, but after u kill an animal or bird, it doesnt come back to life!
So,kindly stop preaching about Environment and Ecosystem!
The birds and animals you people kill cant come back to life, but the same plant can produce leaves, fruits, vegetables again!
