Horanadu, a tiny pilgrim centre in Chikmagalur district is the abode of Goddess Annapoorneshwari.
Surrounded by hills clad in green by the thick vegetation, it has been a picturesque place beckoning pilgrims and nature lovers. The river
Bhadra sings her way through in the ravine. Every bit of life here seems to be orchestrated by nature. A full moon day, as the Moon rises stealthily from behind the hills, adds to the already rich grandeur.
With nature at its best the serenity of Horanadu would steal every heart which would yearn for another visit.
The scenic beauty entices one to capture it in the camera and in the heart as much.
The scenario seems to be changing, for the worse. It is gradually turning into a concrete jungle. Many lodges and commercial establishments have come up.
Week ends and cluster holidays draw huge crowd. The noisy automobiles with their exhaust pollute the air. The oil and fuel leaking from the vehicles pollute the ground and the streams as a consequence. The parking lot stinks. Garbage and plastic heaps are seen.
Littering goes unabated. The grandeur is waning.
Horanadu, in the years to come, will shatter all the images created by its serenity in the hearts of people.
