From a beauty queen to the queen of the box-office, Priyanka Chopra has played many roles so far in her career. And recently, she made a successful foray into the small screen.

Branded as a ‘sex symbol’ in the beginning of her career,  Priyanka proved her mettle as an actor in Fashion, which also won her a National Award.  Priyanka was in the City recently to promote her new film Anjaana Anjaani and she spoke to Metrolife about her role, working with Ranbir and getting married.

Excited about her role in the movie, she says, “The character I play is heart broken and can’t deal with pain anymore. She is at a phase when she thinks nothing really matters. I think the story is quite inspirational and the topic is current,” she adds. Does she associate at all with the character? “I am a very carefree person but I am not as eccentric as my character in the film,” she says. Does she have any jitters since the movie has released along with Rajnikant’s Endhiran/Robot? “Robot is definitely a very huge film but it is of completely different genre. Anjaana Anjaani is a sweet love story, so hopefully it would find its audience,” she says.

Priyanka has been controversy’s favourite child since the time she stepped into the industry. So, do rumours still affect her? “Rumours do affect me. Especially when they become a personal attack. People forget that I am a normal person who is someone’s daughter,” she says.

“But it’s all part and parcel of the job,” she adds. And how was it working with Ranbir? “It was great. He loves discussing my earrings,” she says laughingly.
What is it that she looks for before taking up a project? “A couple of things go into it. The idea should excite me. I look for the story, director, co-stars and also see that the producer has the capability of pulling it off,” she says.

And how is it working in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next movie? “I think the challenge of each film is different. In Saath Khoon Maaf, my character ages from 20 years to 65, so it was tough. But I feel it is the simplest of films that are difficult to make,” she says. Explaining further, she says, “Like how to say the simplest of lines and still make them seem interesting to the audience.”  Sharing information on her future projects, she says, “There is Silence with Anuraag Basu, Don-2; apart from Saath Khoon Maaf.” Taking a cue from Anjaani Anjaani, what are the things she would like to do before dying? “I hope people remember me as an actor. And of course, I want to get married and have kids,” she says.
