Directed by Bangaru, the film she says, was too hard to refuse.  “The role I play is that of a classical dancer and when Bangaru sir offered me, I felt like I was being offered my dream role,” says Roopika, who has learnt classical dance for ten years and even won a national award for it.

So, the going must have been easy for her? “Not really,” she says and adds, “though I am trained in dance, there were times when I had to match steps with big dancers in the industry which was challenging.”

While the actress is currently balancing her work and studies, Roopika says acting is something she always wanted to do.

Ask her what kind of roles she is looking forward to and she says, “So far, in my two movies, I got to don different characters and in future I would like to try my hand in experimental roles.”

But Roopika says glamourous roles are a complete no-no for her. “I have nothing against glamourous roles but I would rather play a homely girl,” explains Roopika, who looks upto Soundarya as her idol.
