Climate conference suggests portal on global warming

Central Pollution Control Board Zonal Officer, Bangalore, A Manoharan pointed out that a separate “lesson” on carbon footprint needs to be included in the school curriculum so that children imbibe eco sensitivity.

 He said imparting the knoweledge at an young age would sow the seeds of positive action.“I hope Karnataka, as a State takes the lead in this setting example for the others including the Centre to follow suit,” he said.

The experts suggested launching of a dedicated website on global warming and climate change either by the Ministry of Environment and Forests or Education Ministry. They felt that the portal should contain adequate information and probable solutions and precautions.

Poor at receiving end

Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor N Prabhu Dev pointed out that if things continued the way they are, the most affected would be the three billion-odd poor who make nil or negligible contributions to the deterioration of the environment. The conference made a set of recommendations which will be compiled by the Bangalore University for the benefit of public.
