Coffee planters for better coordination

Speaking after inaugurating a convention of planters and Coffee Kshethrotsava here, he stressed on office-bearers of the association to be in constant touch with each other and instill confidence among members.

Hassan District Planters Association Vice-President Krishnegowda said officials of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board are never bothered about polluting industries and urban cities but targeting coffee curing works that function hardly two to three weeks in a year.

In fact the planters are contributing a lot for nature by growing thousands of trees and priceless trees. The pollution control board should take all these factors into consideration and extend cooperation to planters, he added.

He said planters have to deposit the arms possessed for their safety during every elections. This system needs to be changed. The planters should have the guns all the 365 days to protect the machinery worth lakhs of rupees as well as to protect their lives.

Belagodu Hobli Planters Association President Y C Rudrappa said it was true that coffee industry is plagued by several problems but they need not be disheartened.

Every sector has one or the other problems and they need to be solved intelligently. To do away with the problems of labourers, a lot of machinery has entered market.

Those who attended the convention include ZP Member Parvathaiah, TP President, Sharada, Hassan District Planters Association president, N B Udaykumar, Pollution Control Board Officer Vijaylakshmi, Coffee Board Joint Director Ponnanna, Deputy Director Mohandas.
