The European carrier had earlier pulled out of Mumbai due to the meltdown in global economies.

"We expect strong demand for our flights to Mumbai, since we offer a comfortable product for business travellers and tourists," Austrian Airlines' Executive Board Member Andreas Bierwirth told reporters here today.

Austrian Airlines has also increased the frequency for its Delhi-Vienna flight to six from five in the winter schedule.

Compared to last winter, the airline is significantly expanding its long-haul capacity for its customers from India, Bierwirth said, adding that Austrian Airlines would now operate 11 weekly flights in all between India and Austria this winter.

The airline has deployed Boeing 767 to operate these flights. "New Delhi and Mumbai are now connected with around 130 global destinations covered by the Austrian route network," Bierwirth said.
