Mithunji's 'disco dancer' act not a gimmick: Tusshar

Last Updated 04 November 2010, 07:10 IST

'I am a Disco Dancer' and 'Yaad Aa Raha Hai' are the two songs from his first big super hit 'Disco Dancer' that feature in the movie. Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who gets to share screen space with the veteran actor in the movie, says that despite the comic tone of the movie, the songs were not used as a gimmick.

"Rohit won't add something just for the sake of it. Even in case of Mithunji's songs in the film, by no means are they gimmicky. These songs are pretty much situational rather than being random item tracks," says Tusshar.

"Whenever there is a twist in the story with an emotional scene coming in, there is 'Yaad Aa Ra Hai' which plays in the background. Of course, with Mithunji around in a comedy film, you may feel that all of this is a gimmick. However, his entire track is etched in the film's narrative," the actor adds.

Being a son of Jeetendra, Tusshar says he is an awe of the yesteryear actors who have ruled the roost for decades. He truly believes that actors from the past were the real heroes as they did everything in a single film with no specific genre being followed.

"Look at actors like Mithuinji, Rishiji (Kapoor) and others; they are all so natural till date. They have seen it, done all. In their films, they used to do comedy, action and romance. If you ask them, they would tell you that they have been doing it for decades and hence are very comfortable with their act," says the actor.

Talking about his camaraderie that he shared with Ajay Devgn, who has worked with him in not just the earlier 'Golmaal' series but also 'Khakee' and 'Insan', Tusshar says they had fun together.

"After pack up, we all used to go to gym together and party in someone's room. Poor Rohit, while we all used to have fun, Rohit had to slog it out to prepare for the next day. It was fun to be carrying on with the film. I and Kareena bonded further as well; after all she was my first co-star in 'Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai'."

Also starring Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu in principal roles, 'Golmaal 3' releases tomorrow.
