Three organisations stage protest, burn effigies of the US President
US President Barack Obama’s visit drew flak in the city as three organisations carried out separate protest rallies and burnt effigies on Monday.

CPI(ML) members carried out a protest rally from the old taluk office premises and later burnt the effigy of Obama at the Hanumanthappa Circle. Party State President B Rudraiah led the protest.

The protest rally of AIRSO commenced from the old taluk office premises and concluded at the Azad Maidan.
Calling the US President a capitalist, the protesters demanded that he should go back to USA immediately. They carried placards reading “fight against new colonial slavery”, “America, a capitalist nation” and “chase away multi-national companies”. Organisation State Committee Secretary Sandeepa, District Secretary Mahesh, President K R Manjunatha and Organising Secretary H C Mahesha led the protest.

Members of the RYFI burnt the portrait of Obama along with a bottle of soft drink manufactured by a multi-national company, at the Bhagat Singh Circle.
Leader Umesh Kumar said that the visit of Obama will invite only dangers rather than fortunes. “Hence, youth should oppose his vist to India,” he added.
