Accident snuffs out boy’s life
Bangalore, DH News Service:

After three daughters, a retired IAF officer had adopted a boy. But his happiness was short-lived. In a cruel twist of fate, the son was snatched by death in a road accident on the new Airport Road on Wednesday morning.

DanishYelahanka police, said Danish (10), a 6th standard student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Yelahanka, was the victim.

At around 8.15 am, the retired airman, a resident of Maruthi Nagar in Venkatala was taking Danish on a scooter to school.

He took the service road and after moving a distance, a sand-laden truck coming from behind rammed into his two-wheeler.

The boy sitting behind slipped and fell to the ground. Before the father could realise what had happened, the child was caught under the rear wheels of the truck and was crushed to death.

The police said, the ex-officer was from Kashmir and after retirement, had settled down in Bangalore. Since he had no son, he had adopted his sister’s son. The men-in-khaki were moved by the tragedy, and rising to the occasion did their best to clear the formalities. The driver of the truck, Ashwath, has been arrested.
