CII Institute of Quality Chairman K S Shenoy said the summit signified CII’s commitment to help build a quality India and strengthening the quality movement in the country in all walks of life.

In his keynote ONGC Chairman & Managing Director R S Sharma said  “India as an economy has definitely emerged, but as a nation a lot is yet to be done.” Several factors such as infrastructural problems, internal instability and energy crisis still need to be dealt with, he added.  Speaking on ‘Innovation in manufacturing: The collaboration imperative’, 3M India Managing Director Ajay Nanavati said new forms of innovation, must have the ability to anticipate what the market wants, before it (market) articulates what it needs, for which a huge shift in thinking is required.
Raman Fibre Science Managing Director Aroon Raman stated “Innovate or die” is the new reality.

Referring to the issue of innovation in India, GE Energy Engineering India Head Gopichand Katragadda, said India, being a unique country with unique needs, requires an indigenious solution for innovation rather than a foreign one.

The summit is on for three days and will have over 50 speakers, CII said.
