We have a new comments tool

Dear readers,

A major strength of www.deccanherald.com is the enthusiastic comments it draws from you. We enjoy being part of this growing community.

We have also deliberately kept this platform open, so that the comments you post show up immediately on the web site. We proudly state that a lot of comments come from readers, who are sensitive and well informed.

But unfortunately, as you know, there are a few misfits, who have been posting comments in bad taste.  There are abuses on caste, religious and personal grounds, which we cannot allow.

We are a newspaper, known for our commitment to public interest. We cannot become a platform for juvenile and vicious outrage. If there is a comment you cannot make before your family members, you cannot make it here.  That, in a nut shell, is our comments policy.

To ensure quality discussion and eliminate abuse we have introduced a new comment tool, Disqus. Registration is easy but mandatory, though you can also log in using your Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Open IDs.

Disqus is a powerful tool, which helps us to block comments, which violate our policy easily. We can also now block site access to compulsive abusers. We count on your encouragement.
