Banaswadi Road is a heavily-used thoroughfare which serves multiple purposes.
Need for underpass
There is an urgent need for an underpass or a skywalk connecting Tumkur Road with Yeshwantpur Railway Station to ease the congestion at this junction. People rushing towards the station unmindful of the heavy flow of traffic — thanks to the Metro work — is a matter of great concern.

Road-widening in Banaswadi
It is a a vital corridor connecting regions from M G Road to Cooke Town, Sewa Nagar, HRBR Layout and the Outer Ring Road.
It is also a local eco-system that makes residential areas such as Cooke Town, Sewa Nagar, HRBR Layout self-contained. The shops on this thoroughfare serve all the local needs.
The proposed road widening is going to slice through residential spaces, take out portions of buildings, remove green cover, and raze down hundreds of shops en route.
If the objective is to improve traffic flow, the government must implement the following.
Make Banaswadi Road one-way with the traffic flowing from the Outer Ring Road towards M G Road as through traffic.
Make the road from Fraser Town police station through Lingarajapuram flyover towards HRBR Layout and Ring Road as one way with traffic proceeding from M G Road towards HRBR Layout and Ring Road as one-way.
There are a number of parallel roads that connect the two roads. The BBMP authorities can explore the construction of a new road along the railway tracks next to Banaswadi station to provide one more
linkage.
