4 killed in head-on collision
KSRTC buses ram into each other near Tarikere
Four persons were killed and 11 others injured when two KSRTC buses collided head-on near here in the early hours of Friday.
Ravikumar and Somashekhar, the drivers of both the buses, and T Srinivas, the manager of Chikmagalur District Central Co-operative Bank who was travelling in one of the buses, died on the spot. Another passenger Murugesh, the manager of Vikasana Institute of Tarikere, breathed his last in the hospital.
KSRTC employees Kalavathi, Rajashekhar, Chandrojirao of Ajjampura, Anand and Manjunath of Peenya in Bangalore, Deepak of Bhadravathi, Sardar of Lingadahalli, Shivakumar and Manjula of Nyamathi have sustained serious injuries. They are recovering at a private hospital in Shimoga.
The accident occurred when the buses plying between Bangalore and Shimoga collided head-on near Hosur Gate (Manasa College).
Deputy Commissioner R Narayanaswamy has announced Rs 2.5 lakh each compensation to the kin of the deceased, and Rs 5,000 each to the injured.
