HC dismisses hotel’s plea
Bangalore, dhns:

A petition by Empire Group of Hotels challenging the order of the City police to close down the hotel by 12 midnight, was dismissed by the High Court on Friday.

The Police had earlier said that they had not adopted a pick and choose method to close down the hotels as the order was issued under Section 31 (w) of Karnataka Police Act for the safety of the employees and the public.

They had contended that Bangalore being a metropolitan city, was frequented by the foreigners and their safety was the first priority.

The City Police Commissioner, in his statement, averred that the decision had been taken to ensure safety of the public at large, in accordance with the Public Entertainment Rules. Upholding the City police order dated 9 May, 2009, Justice N K Patil dismissed the petition saying that the decision is taken to maintain law and order.

Most other countries would say the safety of their citizens are the first priority. Yet our lazy cops are saying the foreigners are their first priority! All this because they are too lazy to do the job assigned to them - to keep law and order!
