The film explores vignettes of love and vicissitudes of life.
Ilangkannan captures the emotions and entanglements with finesse in this partly dubbed Tamil remake of the Telugu original Gammiyam.
A mushy romantic movie with a message, Kadhalna revolves around a richie-rich biker Abhiram who falls for Janaki, a selfless, social activist doctor.
But class and status conflicts and the man’s snooty attitude force Janaki to drift away from him.
Pining for his lost love, Abhiram goes biking in search of her.
Hitching himself to Ambhiram is a carefree and chatter-box petty pilferer Vettivel with an eye on Abhiram’s fancy bike.
How their biking trip to trace the elusive Janaki and Vettivel’s matter-of-fact take on life and living turn into a voyage of self-discovery for Abhiram form the film’s focus. Despite the proverbial pitfalls, a pleasing score, picturesque visuals, pithy dialogues, competent performances, and intutive handling has Ilangkannan coming up with a winner.
