Trespassers, middlemen and evaluators beware! In another attempt to tighten the screws of the answer scripts evaluation and marking procedure, the Bangalore University will introduce Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV).

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev said, “A 30 room Pariksha Bhavan will be inaugurated at the campus. This building will be complete with CCTV and will have single entry and exit points to monitor the movement.” He added that the building along with the evaluation centres for under-graduate and post-graduate students will form a ‘Pariksha Sankeerna.’

The ‘pariksha sankeerna’ or examination unit will handle all matters relating to the evaluation of both under-graduate and post-graduate courses. The ‘pariksha bhavan’ will also house the offices of the Registrar of Evaluation along with other examination authorities. The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that the building was not originally built for the purpose of an examination centre but it was being relocated w   ith a view to tighten the procedure.

Single window system

Further, the university will introduce an e-governance system which will streamline the process of issuing and collecting university documents. Documents such as marks cards, degree certificates, hall tickets etc will be issued along the lines of a smart card, which can be used for a number of  purposes.

“We will introduce this e-governance system where marks cards, degree certificates, hall tickets and all other related documents will be issued through a single window clearance system. All of them will have the same number which will make the process of collecting and issuing easy,” Prabhu Dev said.

The entire process from issuing hall-tickets to marks cards will be fully computerised. “We have already called for tenders to implement the system and will speed up the procedure once the tenders are finalised,” he said.
