Gadkari filed the defamation complaint under section 500 of the IPC against Tiwari in a metropolitan magistrate court, which has directed the Congress leader to file his reply by January 24.
After the Adarsh Housing Society scam came to light, Tiwari in a press conference had alleged that Gadkari too had booked a flat in the name of his driver. The 31-storey Adarsh Society at Colaba in south Mumbai, originally meant for Kargil war heroes, came into controversy after media reports revealed that several politicians, bureaucrats and defence personnel had booked flats there.
