Don’t be surprised. The ‘Tahsildar’ and ‘Lokayukta’ here were none other than the students of the college enacting a skit to create awareness about corruption.

A special lecture series was also organised by social activist Vasanthkumar Mysoremath at the College to observe International Anti-corruption Day.

The play revolved around how the ‘Tahsildar’ demands bribe from a farmer for conversion of land from agriculture to non-agriculture purpose and also to accommodate a builder to get the land for construction activity. The farmer complains to the ‘Lokayukta’ and gets the corrupt official booked.

Mysoremath guided the students to enact the play so that the youth could be sensitised about the corruption that is blatantly being practised  burying human values.
He also explained the guidelines set by United Nations Convention of Anti-corruption (UNCAC) comprising more than 140 signatory countries for observation of Anti-Corruption practices.

The UNCAC had prescribed the programmes for creating awareness among people with the help of NGOs and best practices. He requested the youngsters to discuss the outcome of the workshop with their friends, parents and relatives and spread the good word on anti-corruption and for desisting corrupt practices.

At the end of the lecture series, Mysoremath administered an oath of allegiance to the students to combat corruption bereft of unethical practices such as corruption, nepotism and illegal means of earning extra money for our ‘out of the box’ living yearnings.
