Marginal hike in diesel prices likely
As state-owned oil marketing companies continue to suffer from the soaring global crude oil prices, the Empowered Group of Ministers on oil prices is likely to meet next week to consider increasing retail prices of the three mass-consumed petroleum products.
Headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the empowered group was scheduled to meet on Tuesday to consider hiking the retail prices of diesel, domestic LPG and kerosene.
However, the meeting was postponed as some of the group members were not available, official sources said.
"We hope the empowered group would meet next week to discuss the issue (of price revision of petroleum products)," Petroleum Secretary S Sundareshan told newspersons here.
