Argentine midfielder Andres D'Alessandro has been named Latin American Player of the Year after his inspirational performances helped Brazil's Internacional win the Libertadores Cup. D'Alessandro pipped his fellow Argentine Juan Sebastian Veron, who finished second after winning the award in each of the last two seasons with Estudiantes.
