Before choosing a career, see if you have a genuine deep passion for it; if you have that, then go ahead. This was the crux of eminent educationists' message on the occasion to young students.

Chairman of Banjara Academy, Ali Khwaja, said: "There’s nothing called an ideal career and do not take into account ‘herd mentality’ that suggests that only a particular career or job is best and rewarding. Also do not copy a person’s life and career interest just because he became rich.

“Start exploring umpteen options that lie open before you. In this Internet Age, information access is easy. Just Google or ask experts,” said Khwaja.

Director-Placements, Acharya Group of Institutions, C B M Bhooshan, emphasised that “opportunities are not given but taken.”

“When an opportunity comes, people here are sceptical about it; unfortunately that is the Indian mindset. Shed this mind frame and grab the opportunity,” he said.

Director and founder of CIGMA (Career Information and Guidance Movement for All), Ameen-e-Mudassar, felt watching movies could be a great lesson at times.

He recalled a few one-liners from the movie “3-Idiots” like ‘Run after excellence and not success...’ to substantiate this.

The programme “After 10th Standard - What Next?” held under DHiE, aimed at giving students clarity on today’s changing career options.
