The provision for the UKP comes in the wake of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal award allotting 177 tmc ft water to Karnataka under ‘B’ scheme. The award also granted permission to increase height of Almatti reservoir to 524.24 metre from 519 metre. The neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, unhappy over the award, has decided to file a review petition.

The Public Works Department would spend Rs 150 crore for post-monsoon maintenance and repair of road network in the State.

The supplementary estimate sought Rs 100 cr for MLA Local Area Development Scheme. Legislators would get about Rs 50 lakh each under the scheme to take up development projects in respective constituencies. More money has been sought for several non-plan expenditures. The total expenditure of the State would increase to Rs 59,139 cr for 2010-11 fiscal if the House approves the second installment of supplementary estimate. The government has already secured sanction for Rs 941 crore expenditure in the first installment, in July 2010. The budget estimate for expenditure was Rs 53,138 cr for the current financial year.
