It is estimated that a company using around 100 desktops on an average of 10 hours per day for 250 days in a year, consumes around 53,250 kWh (kilo Watt hours) of power.
However, Vigyanlabs Marketing Director Abi V John claims that if the company using 100 desktops installs IPMPlus, then it can save around 34,500 kWh of energy per year. This means that you can save around ` 1.72 lakh annually.

Even though existing applications on the computers provide the option to turnoff or hibernate option to save power, they fail to stop the unused components of a system from using power.

Whereas, John said that their product detect applications that are active and turns off several power consuming components in the computer without interrupting the user’s work.

Explaining the advantages of using it in large organisations, John said, “supposing your company has different departments such as production and administration. Each department has a different type of IT usage and their time of work will also be different.
Using IPMPlus you can provide separate power policies to the various departments allowing optimal savings.”

He said that the application can be used on individual desktops at homes and also at IT organisations using more than 10,000 computers. At present, IPMPlus is offering a 60-day evaluation period for users to scrutinise the advantages.

According to a report provided by Vigyanlabs, a typical desktop can consume anywhere between 450kWh (Kilo watt hours) to 650 kWh per year depending on the CPU, monitor type (LCD or CRT)  and peripherals used. Likewise, in the case of servers, over a three-year period, the energy cost of a server equals the cost of the server itself. John said that users can visit the www.ipmplus.com to try the 60-day evaluation version.
