Tulu Academy to launch website today
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy will launch its official website on January 15 at the Academy Hall, informed Academy President Palthady Ramakrishna Achar.
Speaking with the reporters here on Thursday, he said that the culture and lifestyle of Tulunadu, the work taken up by the Academy, recent developments etc will be available on the website. District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar will launch the website, while the state Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat will preside over the function.
Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Rajani Dugganna will be the chief guest.
Three works in Tulu
He also informed that three special chronicles in Tulu will be released on the occasion.
The three works to be released are: Documentaion of the folklore collections of folklorist Banglegudde Sannakka - ‘Banglegudde Sannakkana Baypatheroda Sahityo’ by Government College (Sullia) Lecturer Dr Poovappa Kaniyoor, the translation of Arunabja’s Mahabharata - ‘Bharata Kavya Pasodi’ by Kasargod college retired Professor Dr K Kamalaksha and a collection of talks ‘Tuluva Krishna Devaraya’ by Dr Duggappa Kajekar. Scholars Dr Sundar Kenaje and Dr Gananath Ekkar will review all the three works at the programme, said Achar.
Tulu in 8th Schedule
Informing about the reason for the delay in including Tulu in VIII Schedule of the Indian Constitution, Achar said that MP D V Sadananda Gowda had written a letter to all the MPs requesting them to support the plea of including Tulu in VIII Schedule.
Letters have been sent addressing the Chief Minister too.
The issue was supposed to be raised in the recent Assembly sessions. However, the issue was not raised due to other obstacles.
“We hope the issue will be raised and gets nod in the next legislative session,” he said.
As far as the status of Tulu as third language in the schools are concerned, he informed that as many as 8,000 books have been supplied to the schools for the students who have chosen Tulu as the third language. Efforts are on to include Tulu as the third language in VIII std too, he informed. A workshop will be held in Puttur from January 17 to 19 to discuss the syllabus for VIII standard.
