<p>Afghan President Hamid Karzai will undertake a two-day visit to New Delhi from Wednesday during which the two countries will discuss the security situation in Afghanistan and take stock of the developmental work being undertaken by India there.<br /><br />Karzai will hold substantive talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during which he is expected to apprise the Indian leader about the efforts being made to bring about peace in Afghanistan. </p>.<p>"President Karzai's visit continues the tradition of regular high-level consultations between the two countries, and will contribute to strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between India and Afghanistan," the external affairs ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.</p>.<p>Karzai will also meet President Pratibha Patil and address the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit – 2011, being organized by The Energy Research Institute (TERI) on Thursday.</p>.<p>External affairs minister S M Krishna was in Kabul last month during which the two sides had discussed the bilateral ties and ways to enhance these.</p>.<p>After the visit, Krishna had termed as "very disturbing" the current situation in Afghanistan and said India will extend all support for reconstruction of the country.</p>.<p>In a reference to Karzai government's efforts to reintegrate Taliban elements with the mainstream, Krishna had said those who are willing to disassociate with terrorism must be encouraged to participate in the peace initiative.</p>
