"It was an out-of-the-box (film). I can't repeat the same concept of the 1970s with that of 2011 (film) as it cannot work in today's world. The film has been made keeping in mind today's thinking," he added.
The evergreen filmmaker had tasted success with 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' which talked about the prevalent hippie culture. The film carried an anti-drugs message and also depicted problems associated with westernisation.
His find actress Zeenat Aman, who played the mini-skirt sporting, pot-smoking Janice, became an overnight sensation and the song 'Dum Maro Dum' featuring her became very popular.
Dev Anand is also ready with his next film 'Chargesheet', a suspense-murder drama, starring himself, Jackie Shroff, Zeenat Aman, Naseeruddin Shah, and Divya Dutta among others.
"'Charge Sheet' is very contemporary. It is a suspense genre, a murder story of two hours duration. I think it should do very well because I have made it with tremendous gusto. The film should release in two months," Dev Anand said.
The actor's last few directorial ventures 'Censor' (2001), 'Love at Times Square' (2003) and 'Mr Prime Minister' (2005) sank without a trace. But the legendary filmmaker is not disheartened.
"I know off late my films have not done well. So what? It happens. May be I made some flaws...mistakes in publicity, distribution and other areas. But all my films are very close to my heart," the actor said.
