We may consider airport blast case has been resolved: Putin

Last Updated 03 May 2018, 05:46 IST

On January 24, a powerful explosion ripped through the airport's arrival lounge killing 36 people and injuring 180.

Putin, who visited the Channel 1 TV headquarters here last night, told journalists that "an investigation is ongoing, people are working effectively."

According to the PMO website, responding to questions of the Russia's main TV channel, formerly Soviet Central TV, Putin said: "We may consider that the case has been resolved."

"They (militants) do not even understand what they want, they cannot formulate their demands. It is just this anarchist terrorism against everyone and everything: against the state, the authorities and against the country," Putin was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Investigation Committee of Russia spokesman Vladimir Markin said for the time being the name of the man who blew himself will not be disclosed due to ongoing probe, but they have identified him as a 20-year-old man from the volatile Caucasus region.

No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, which comes less than a year after two female suicide bombers from North Caucasus struck the Moscow metro, killing dozens.
