<p>The Kodagu district Small Growers Association had written a letter to the UNESCO Director General on November 7, 2010 on the opposition by the people of Kodagu to give the world heritage site tag. <br /><br />In reply, the Director General has assured to take the issue in the 35th convention of the world heritage committee scheduled to be held between June 19 and 29 at Manama in Bahrain. <br /><br />Addressing a press meet, Association President C M Cauveriappa said that UNESCO world heritage committee Director Fransisco Bandarin has replied to the letter written by the Association. <br /><br />Cauveriappa said the Association is trying to keep in touch with the UNESCO with regard to the dropping of the proposal on world heritage tag to the Kodagu. <br /><br />He said the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) of UNO has been making technical assessment into the world heritage site along with the assessing of recommendations given by the World Heritage Committee. Hence, the committee has already submitted the letter and the documents provided by the Association to the IUCN, he added. <br /><br />The Association also urged the Assemnly Speaker K G Bopaiah and MLA M P Aappachu Ranjan to solve the row over Baane issue at the earliest. The draft proposal on the Baane issue was not presented in the Cabinet meeting, he added.</p>
